Mola applique is a traditional textile art form created by the Guna (formerly Kuna) people of Panama. . It involves a reverse appliqué technique where multiple layers of contrasting fabric are carefully stacked and sewn together. The design is formed by cutting away parts of the top layers to reveal the colors of the layers beneath, with the edges of the cut sections turned under and stitched down to create a secure, nearly invisible seam. This process is often referred to as reverse appliqué. lol
